About
General Council is a General Body meeting for the Residence Hall Association of Arizona State University – Tempe. Each hall council is given a designated table, where as many people as a hall council wants can attend. Any resident living on campus can attend these meetings. This body runs as a student government, and each hall council is given a maximum of three votes.
Each hall has at least three GC Representatives, appointed by the Hall Staff, who attend every GC Meeting. Additionally, every hall council staff member must attend these meetings. The RHA Co-Advisors, two Student Leader Advisory Board Representatives, and an Undergraduate Student Government Representative may sit in at this meetings. The meetings are overseen by the Executive-Director, and the other Directors assist the Executive-Director

All RHA general council meetings take place in Memorial Union Stage (MU85) unless otherwise stated. This is the room directly below Taco Bell on the lower level of the Memorial Union. Look for the RHA Banner outside the door.
Business is conducted during General Council in order to allow legislative and funds proposals to pass in front of a representative resident body.
Funds proposals are used by hall councils, hall staff, housing paraprofessionals, and other groups & entities seeking funding for resident interests. RHA is given a set proposal amount at the beginning of each semester that entities & groups may come and propose for. To learn about this process and its timeline, click here: GC Funds Requests

Legislative proposals are used to amend our Governing Documents. In addition to legislation, the GC may also review the RHA Budget, E-Board Stipends, and Summer Assistant Information, as well as advocacy initiatives and regional/national hosting.
